The history of acupuncture dates back thousands of years. It is believed to be a type of medicine that was practiced even before records indicate it. In the history of acupuncture, there is several times where things became very important. For example, one of the most significant was the period of the Huang Di which was from 2697 to 2597. During that time, Huang Di and his physician Qi Bo worked to discuss and develop many of the traditional Chinese arts including acupuncture. The text, The Nei Jing (The Yellow Emperors Classic of Internal Medicine) would be developed which would serve as an important fixture in acupuncture as it outlines techniques, acupuncture points, needles and even descriptions of the meridians.
The history of acupuncture continues with the refinement of these processes as well as the creation of new methods of acupuncture. Today, there are many ways that they can be used, but all are based on these ancient methods.
